Wokingham is a busy town for domestic access work, and the reason is largely the housing itself. The centre keeps a core of older brick and timber-framed property around the market place and Rose Street, surrounded by Victorian and Edwardian housing, and then a wide band of twentieth-century suburban development through Emmbrook, Woosehill, Norreys and Wescott. Beyond that, the borough has absorbed a great deal of new development at Arborfield Green, Montague Park and the surrounding strategic sites.

That gives us three quite different types of job. Older central property needs careful, low-impact scaffolding with proper protection and often a licence for the footway. Suburban housing is standard roof, render, extension and solar work with good access. New development is programme-driven scaffolding for builders and contractors, priced from drawings and adapted as the structure goes up.

We do all three from the same yard with the same team, and the same promise: someone comes out and looks at it, you get a written price, and the scaffold goes up on the day we said it would.

Old brick and timber frontages that will not take heavy tying. We use low-impact fixings, protective padding and free-standing configurations where the building cannot be drilled.

Twentieth-century semis and detached housing with conservatories and side returns to bridge — the most common domestic scaffold we build in the borough.

Phased scaffolding for housebuilders and contractors, adapted lift by lift as the structure goes up, with paperwork at each handover.

Out towards Barkham, Finchampstead and Swallowfield the ground is often soft and the buildings irregular. Base design and load spreading matter more than the tube count.
